Novar Fishings - Beat 3

Beat 3 starts in conifer plantation below the Ardross Castle water at the March an excellent holding pool. Below the March there is a long section of falls and cascades before the Dalreoch Falls pool and Shingle Bend. There is another steep drop after Shingle then the beat becomes characterised by mixed woodland and permanent grassland with alders lining most of the pools. There are many more excellent holding pools including Ace on the top half of the beat and Junction (or Dalreoch Burn) and Folly on the lower half. The lower half of the beat is particularly good for grilse, and culminates in the Stones pool, one of the most productive pools on the river that can produce fish in all heights of water.
